Under Canvas Zion – Virgin
Under Canvas Zion is located just 20 miles from the South entrance to Zion National Park in Virgin. The site covers 196 acres, and there you feel as if you are away from the rest of the world.
It opened in 2012 and has become one of the most popular glamping places near Zion National Park, and has won awards as one of the best resorts in the US.
They have safari-inspired tents for you to sleep in, that has all the luxury of staying in a hotel with en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, king-size beds, and luxury bedding. There is also an onsite restaurant, so you don’t need to go out for dinner on an evening, but you can relax there after your hard day.
There are amazing views of the surrounding canyon walls, and they have a lot of outside and inside communal areas for you to relax in. Make sure to be outside on an evening to enjoy the amazing views of the stars with no light pollution.
Please note: Under Canvas Zion is not open from early November until early March, so if you want to experience sleeping under the stars during your Zion National Park Itinerary, then you will need to visit in Spring, Summer, or Fall.

Zion’s Tiny Oasis – Virgin
Zion’s Tiny Oasis is located in Virgin, just 20 miles from Springdale and the South entrance to Zion National Park. There are 4 tiny homes available, catering for 2-6 people. If you have always wanted to experience a tiny home like me, then this is a beautiful place to experience it.
All the tiny homes have a kitchen where you can prepare your breakfast or dinner. If you prefer not to cook, then there are many restaurants within a short drive. Each has bed and an en-suite bathroom in a compact area.
Make sure on an evening to enjoy the onsite hot tub while enjoying the stars with no light pollution, after having watched the amazing sunset.
If you have any mobility issues or are not comfortable climbing a ladder to your bed, then this may not be the best place for you, though there are 2 of the tiny homes that do have accessible beds.

Zion Wildflower Resort – Virgin

Zion Wildflower Resort, Utah, has been welcoming guests since 2020, and while there, you can choose whether to sleep in a tent, a covered wagon, or a cabin. Note that only the cabins have private bathrooms; the tents and wagons have shared bathrooms.
The resort is quite large with 12 tents, 12 cabins, and 40 cabins, but there is nothing close by, so you will enjoy the nights sitting by the firepits and chatting to new friends.
The resort does not have a restaurant onsite, but there are many restaurants nearby, or you can choose to use the BBQ facilities on site. The cabins also come with mini fridges and microwaves.
This is one of the best places to stay near Zion National Park if you love silence, and there is a small playground for children, activities are arranged in the communal areas, and a seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub.

The Dwellings – La Verkin
The Dwellings are located in La Verkin, one of the towns near Zion National Park, about a 30-minute drive to the South entrance of Zion National Park. Here you will find 17 modern cottages built on the edge of a hill with views of the mountains in the distance and the river below.
All the cottages have large windows in the bedrooms, overlooking your private terrace with views of the mountains. The perfect way to wake up in the morning. The rooms do have a kitchen, but only in 8 of them will you find a cooktop; however, the others do have a microwave and fridge.
If you want to eat out, then there are restaurants within walking distance. The back of the cottages are close to the main highway to Zion, so there can be a little noise from the road, but the views certainly make up for it.
Mulberry Inn – St George
The Mulberry Inn is located in Saint George, which is 40 miles or about a 1-hour drive from the entrance of Zion National Park.
It has an interesting history and is the longest-running bed and breakfast in Southern Utah. It was built in 1873 and, in the past, was called the Seven Wives Inn after the polygamists who lived there when polygamy was outlawed. The attic was once the hiding place when the US marshals came to town.
Recently, the Inn was renovated and now has 7 rooms & suites. The most unique has to be the Fogg Suite, which has a jetted tub in a Model T Ford car!!!

Zion Ponderosa Ranch – East Entrance
Located just 7 miles from the east entrance of Zion, Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort is a great option if you would like to experience staying on a 4,000-acre ranch. You have the option of choosing from a home, a cabin, glamping, a wagon, and RV camping.
Please note that if you choose to go with your RV, there are only specific times that you can enter and leave the park through the Zion tunnel, otherwise, it will be over 100 miles to the Zion Ponderosa Ranch.
On site, you will find a restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during Spring, Summer, and Fall. They also have a food truck and summer outdoor dining experience, so once you are at the ranch, you don’t need to leave.
They have a bar and a recreation center where you can play billiards, ping pong, and they also have an indoor and outdoor climbing wall and a swimming pool that is open from May until October.
If you enjoy more of a resort feeling with lots of facilities, then this is the perfect place for you to stay.

Arrowhead Country Inn & Cabins – Mount Carmel

Arrowhead Country Inn & Cabins is located in Mt Carmel, around a 20-minute drive from the east entrance of Zion National Park. Here you can stay in one of the 7 cabins or bungalows on a working farm. You can also enjoy the farm-fresh breakfast feast that is prepared for guests.
If you want to have a walk around the farm, you will find walking trails where you can see the animals on the farm. Each of the cabins has a kitchenette, and there is a BBQ onsite for communal use.
Arrowhead Country Inn also has a seasonal swimming pool and hot tubs for guests to enjoy. If you do not want to cook at the farm, then it is just a 20-minute drive to Kanab, where there are a lot of restaurant choices.

The Wandering Star Inn – Glendale
The Wandering Star Inn is located in a beautiful green mountain area, just a 30-minute drive from the east entrance of Zion National Park. It is a very unique place, the owner has just one bungalow to rent out with an ensuite bathroom that sleeps two people.
What people love about this place is the owner, Ron, who actually built the cabin himself, and while you are there, you will get to know him and his fascinating stories. Ron has also created an outdoor seating area where you can sit and enjoy food, though you will need to either bring food with you or stop in one of the nearby towns to eat.
This is a unique property with a unique owner and certainly a beautiful place to stay during your trip to Zion National Park.

Best Friends Roadhouse & Mercantile – Kanab
If you are after a unique stay while you are visiting Zion National Park and you love animals or are travelling with your cat or dog, then Best Friends Roadhouse is the perfect location for you. It is located 30 miles from the east entrance of the park in the centre of Kanab.
It was 40 rooms with cat and dog amenities, a fenced dog park, a dog washing station, and much more, and it is the best pet-friendly place to stay near Zion National Park. The profit from your stay also goes to supporting the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, where you are able to visit and do a tour during your stay.
This place is truly unique, and if you are looking for where to stay when visiting Zion National Park, where you can host a sleepover with a cat, dog, or bunny, then this is the place for you.

Parry Lodge – Kanab
130 years ago the Parry Lodge started its life as a farmhouse, but as the area was used it make films in the 1920’s, it quickly became a favourite for the casts and crew, due to its location on the historic highway 89 in Kanab, just a 30 minute drive from the east entrance to Zion National Park.
Lots of movie stars have stayed in this hotel and you can see plaques above the doors stating which movie stars have stayed in the room. Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, to name just a few.
The hotel is known for its great breakfast, available to guests and the public, and has a heated swimming pool for guests’ use. The hotel has 89 rooms with single and double rooms available and has all the amenities you would expect for a few nights or a long stay.
If you would like to stay in a hotel where the celebrities have stayed and feel like you are in a western movie, then stay at the Parry Lodge.
Red Canyon Cabins – Kanab
Red Canyon Cabins is located just 2km from Kanab, which is a 35-minute drive to the east entrance of Zion National Park. It is a quiet area surrounded by beautiful mountains and where you can enjoy the night sky.
There are around 40 cabins on site, and you can choose from a queen room, a triple, or a room with 2 queens for 4 people. Each cabin has an ensuite bathroom and patio area for you to enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains.
There is an outdoor dining area with barbecue grills for those who want to cook; if not, Kanab has many restaurants.

Gooseberry Lodges – Apple Valley
Gooseberry Lodges is located just off the main road from Hurricane to Colorado City, close to Apple Valley, around a 40-minute drive from the south entrance of Zion National Park.
Here you will find a choice of Zion National Park cabins, from smaller cabins with shared bathrooms to a deluxe king or queen studio with an ensuite bathroom. Please note that some of the beds are on a mezzanine level, so make sure to check which room you are booking if you have mobility issues.
Onsite, you can find a small store selling snacks, drinks, firewood, and charcoal in case you would like to use the grill or fire pit. The deluxe rooms also come with hot plates and microwaves. If you are looking to eat out, then Hurricane is just a 15-minute drive west from Gooseberry Lodges.
You will also find lots of picnic tables to use and a children’s playground.

Zion Glamping Adventures – Hildale
Zion Glamping Adventures is set amongst the mountains around 2.5km from Hildale, which is just a 45-minute drive to the South entrance of Zion National Park.
Here you can stay in one of the cozy 21 bell tents that either have a queen bed or 2 queen beds. The tents are beautifully decorated, but at this site, there are no tents with en-suites, though there are restrooms close by with showers.
If you want a unique camping experience but with a comfy bed and heating or AC, then this is a great place to try. There are communal areas on site where you will find barbecue grills, hammocks, games, and a beautiful area to hang out and enjoy the night sky.

FAQ’s about Staying near Zion
The closest town and easiest town to access Zion National Park is Springdale which is located just outside the South Entrance to Zion.
To really see a lot and fully enough Zion, you need to spend a minimum of 2 days exploring the park, but if you can stay for 3 full days in the park, you should be able to hike a lot of the trails.
Inside the park, there is only one hotel Zion Lodge, which does get booked up in advance and is more expensive than some of the hotels just outside the park. If you like camping, then you can stay at the campground located by the visitors center, but you will need to go into Springdale to shower.
What to Pack to visit Zion National Park
Figuring out what to wear and pack for Zion National Park can be a bit challenging since the weather shifts with the seasons.
During summer, expect hot, sunny days that call for light, airy clothing like shorts and t-shirts. However, it’s a good idea to toss a light jacket or fleece into your bag as mornings and evenings can feel surprisingly cool, particularly if you’re hitting the trails early or lingering to watch the sunset.
