Towns Near Zion National Park

Due to the popularity of Zion, the towns near Zion National Park have grown and expanded since the park was established in 1919. Now you have many options of towns and cities close to stay when visiting Zion National Park where you can stay during your visit to Zion.

You have many options depending on your budget as the places closer to Zion National Park are generally more expensive and if you are looking for anything under $150 a night then you will need to look further away than Springdale, the closest town to Zion National Park.

If you do not have a car of your own then it is still possible to visit Zion National Park using St George Shuttle, they run shuttle buses from Las Vegas & Salt Lake City to St George and you can then get the St George to Zion National Park shuttle. It would be best once you arrive at Zion National Park to stay in Springdale if you plan to visit the park for more than one day.

Springdale

Springdale is located in Utah, just outside the South Entrance to Zion National Park and many people choose to stay in Springdale as it is within walking distance of the park, the park has a shuttle that collects visitors from Springdale and brings them to the park and there are also many restaurants for you to choose from in the town.

Springdale only has a population of 600 people with many of these people working in the tourist industry in hotels, restaurants or shops serving the visitors to Zion. This population though increases significantly during a busy holiday when the hotels are full of tourists.

Springdale has a wide choice of hotels and motels for you to choose from during your stay with prices ranging from $130 to $450 per night based on 2 people sharing a room.

Hotels do get booked up well in advance, especially during US holidays but generally it is possible to find a place to stay near Zion National Park, though if you are on a budget it might be more difficult to find cheaper accommodation.

Springdale is probably the most popular choice of towns for people to stay in when visiting Zion National Park, just because of it’s proximity to the park and the amenities of restaurants and shops.

If you are wanting something a little quieter then there are many more towns that you can choose from.

Places to Stay in Springdale Utah

Further out from Springdale you will find Rockville, it is less than 5 miles from the entrance to Zion National Park and just has a few options of hotels/inns to stay at during your stay. Options from $180 to $250 a night.

There are no restaurants or shops in Rockville and the nearest place is Springdale with other options further away in La Verkin.

Virgin

The next town along the main road from the South Entrance of Zion National Park is Virgin, it is over a mile long and has a few choices of accommodation than Rockville. There are a few shops and restaurants but it is not as big and touristy as Springdale.

Here you will find the option of 1 hotel and other alternative options of accommodation such as a tiny house, an adobe house, a premium wagon or glamping.

Prices for accommodation in Virgin range from $150 to $800.

Places to stay in Virgin

La Verkin

La Verkin is the biggest town closest to Springdale and has many choices of hotels and house rentals. Best Western and La Quinta are located here and you can find options from $55 to $180 for a hotel.

La Verkin is located just 20 miles, around a 30 minute drive from the South Entrance to Zion National Park and makes this a great cheap option, with a short drive to the park.

La Verkin does have options of restaurants and shops for those people staying in La Verkin, but you will find more options in Springdale or Hurricane which is located just 1 mile from La Verkin. La Verkin is more a town set up for locals rather than tourists, though this is starting to change with a lot more accommodation options recently added.

Hurricane

Located just 1 mile from La Verkin at 21 miles from the South Entrance of Zion National Park, Hurricane is a great option if they are on a budget.

Hurricane has options of hotels ranging from $50 to $100 so it is a great option for those on a budget and it is not too far from Zion National Park. There are also many options of cafes and restaurants along the main road in Hurricane which are easy to walk to from any hotel.

St George

The distance from St George to Zion National Park is 40 miles, about a 50 minute drive to the South Entrance to Zion National Park.

St George is a big city with many hotels, restaurants and shops spread throughout the city, with many hotels/motels on the outskirts of the city which are great for people on a budget.

There are also some nice hotels out of the city with amazing views and pools and a great place to relax on your trip.

Places to stay in St. George

Cedar City

Cedar City is located 57 miles north of the South Entrance to Zion National Park and 20 miles from Kolob Canyon Visitors Center. It is a big city around the same size as St George and here you can again find many hotels, restaurants and shops.

It is a great place to choose if you want to visit both sides of the park and if you want to attend one of the many festivals it hosts each year.

Places to stay in Cedar City

East Entrance to Zion National Park

Mt Carmel & Mt Carmel Junction

Mt Carmel Junction is located 12 miles, around a 15 minute drive from the East Entrance to Zion National Park and as the name suggests it is a junction, with a few gas stations, a few stores, a few rv parks, a motel and 1 hotel with a restaurant.

Mt Carmel itself is 2.5 miles north of Mt Carmel Junction, it has no restaurants or shops but a few rv parks and 1 Inn where you can experience living on their farm in one of the cabins.

Orderville

Orderville is located 17 miles North East of the East entrance to Zion National Park around a 20 minute drive. This is the closest town with shops and Cafes to the East Entrance of Zion, though there are only a few, there is no accommodation in this town.

Kanab

Located south east of the east entrance of Zion National Park you will find Kanab. It is 30 miles and around a 35 minute drive from the east entrance of the park. Here you will find many shops, restaurants and cafes and many hotels to choose from.

This is a great option for if you are on a budget as it has hotels ranging from $50 to $150 and is perfect if you are traveling from Bryce National Park as you can stay here for a night or more without having to drive through Zion to get to accommodation at the South Entrance of Zion.
