Once you have booked the flights then the next stage is which hotel to book and in Ischia this can be a difficult decision as there are so many great little hotels. You need to decide what type of holiday you are wanting, is it a beach holiday, do you want to explore the island? Do you want to be in a lively town where you can try the local restaurants or are you wanting some space in a quiet family run hotel.

If it’s a luxury spa and relaxing holiday then there are also some great options. Where to stay In Ischia

Ischia is quite a big island, though it has great public transport, so if you don’t have a car it is quite easy to get around.

Ischia Port

This is the area where the ferrys dock from Naples.  You can also walk to Aragonese Castle from here and get a great view of it from the many restaurants and bars that line the shore.  This is quite a bustling little town with lots of shops and restaurants, the beaches are small in this area but all the buses go from this area around the island.

Forio d’Ischia

Forio d’Ischia is located on the west coast of the Island on the opposite side to Ischia port.  It is a busy little town with lots of bars and restaurants and here you get amazing sunsets over the water.  Chiaia Beach is the closest beach to Forio and is beautiful and is only a 10 minute walk away.

Maronti Beach

Maronti beach is one of the biggest beaches in Ischia on the south coast of the island, close to Sant’Angelo.  There are several shops, bars and restaurants in the area and also water taxi’s are available to nearby Sant’Angelo.

Casamicciola Terme

Casamicciola Terme is located on the north coast of Ischia and is quite a bustling town with lots of shops, bars and restaurants.  The main beach in Casamicciola is Marina Beach which is located close to the town centre, though it is quite small.

Hotel La Capannina

The Hotel La Capannina is a 3 star hotel located in the hills overlooking Ischia Porto.  It is around 1km from any beaches but the views from this hotel make up for that.

Some rooms offer the beautiful view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, but everyone can enjoy breakfast or food in the onsite restaurant which was a great terrace with a view of Aragonese Castle.

The hotel has only 12 rooms so it never feels crowded and each room has a private bathroom, air conditioning and a tv.  Doubles, twins, triples and quadruple rooms are available.

A great breakfast is included and the onsite restaurant is open for lunch and dinner during the months of April to November.

Best Bit? The best part of the this hotel has to be the amazing views from the terrace and some of the rooms.  Make sure you book the room with a seaview to wake up to the amazing views each day.

Worst Bit? The decoration in the rooms is very simple and a little dated.

Summary: If you are looking to stay in a quiet hotel near Ischia port and with amazing views then this is the hotel for you.  If you don’t have a car there is a bus that goes from the Port to outside the hotel and takes just 15 minutes.

Hotel Torre Sant’ Angelo

The Hotel Torre Sant’Angelo is a 3 star family run hotel on a headland with a view of the Sant’Angelo bay.   The Sorgeto beach is just a short walk from the hotel and Sant’Angelo is just over 1km away. 

The hotel offers shuttle buses to Sant’Angelo and to the nearest bus stop for guests without a car. The hotel has a swimming pool with thermal water and a hot tub both with panoramic views.

The hotel has 18 rooms which are spacious and decorated in a modern Mediterranean style, all of them have a tv and the superior rooms have balconies with stunning sea views and air conditioning.  There are options of doubles, twins and family rooms.

A buffet breakfast served on the terrace and the hotel has a bar and restaurant serving lunch and dinner.

Best bit? The hotel is in a great location with amazing views from the terrace, swimming pools and bedrooms.

Worst bit? The hotel is a bit isolated and not really walking distance if you want to pop to the local town for a meal or drink, though the hotel does run a shuttle service for guests.

Summary: This is a beautiful hotel in a great location with amazing views.  Perfect for those wanting to stay in a small hotel and are happy to walk to the local beaches.

Hotel Maronti Ischia

The Hotel Maronti is located in Maronti around 2km from Sant’Angelo with views in the distance of Sant’Angelo.  It is only 50 metres from the Maronti Beach.

This 3 star hotel offers a restaurant, bar, sun terrace and has a jacuzzi in the gardens of the hotel and breakfast is included in the price.

The hotel has a variety of rooms from single, double, triple or quadruple economy rooms with a view of the rear of the property or standard rooms with balconies and sea views.  None of the rooms have air conditioning but fans are provided.

Best Bit? The hotel is in a great location only 50 metres from the beach and a short distance from Sant’Angelo.

Worst Bit? The hotel has no air conditioning and if you do not have a car then it can be a little difficult to get around the island, though there is a bus stop 200 metres away.  The hotel is quite basic in decoration and not very modern.

Summary: If you are looking for a cheap hotel, that is clean and close to the beach and are not bothered by old fashioned decoration then this is a great choice.

Hotel Ape Regina

This 3 star hotel is located in the centre of Ischia and is surrounded by woods and vineyards on the top of a hill with an amazing view of the sea. The rooms are decorated in a simple style with air conditioning and some of the rooms have balconies.

Breakfast is not included but can be purchased and there is an onsite restaurant serving italian cuisine and you can also get snacks and drinks at the poolside bar.

The hotel has a pool and sun terrace and the bus stops outside the hotel if you want to get to nearby Casamicciola Terme and the beach.

Best Bit? The views from this family run hotel and pool are stunning.

Worst Bit? If you don’t have a car then it can be a bit of a hassle getting the bus into the town nearby, though as its only a short distance you can get taxis.

Summary: If you are looking for a family run hotel in the hills with amazing views then this is a great option.  If you are looking to spend a lot of time at the beach then this is probably not the right place for you.

Aragona Palace Hotel & Spa

The Hotel Aragona Ischia is a 4 star hotel that overlooks the harbour in Ischia.  It is around 2km from Aragonese Castle. The hotel has an outdoor pool and well as an indoor pool as part of the spa facilities.  It also has a restaurant that guests can dine in and a fabulous breakfast included.

The hotel offers guests single and double rooms with air conditioning and also superior rooms with balcony and terraces available with views of the harbour.  There is wifi throughout the hotel. Breakfast is included and there is also the option to include dinner. 

If you are looking for a pamper then check out the spa facilities which include an indoor thermal pool, hot bub and many treatments are also available.

Best Bit? The hotel is in a great location to explore Ischia port and the surrounding neighbourhood, it also has an outdoor pool and sun terrace with great views and a spa to relax in.

Worst Bit? The rooms are a little dated and old fashioned.

Summary: If you are looking for a hotel with an outdoor pool and spa, close to the harbour then this is a great choice.

Tenuta Del Poggio Antico

The boutique Tenuta Del Poggio Antico Hotel is located on the west coast of Ischia, just 1.2 miles from the town of Forio.  It is located in the hills and is surrounded by citrus trees and vineyards the sea can be seen in the distance.

This 4 star hotel has luxury rooms and suites and all have either a balcony or patio.  Each room also has free wifi and air conditioning and the suites have a kitchenette. 

The hotel only has 10 rooms so is perfect if you are looking for a quiet getaway. A fabulous breakfast is included and drinks and snacks can also be bought from the poolside bar. 

The hotel has a swimming pool and hot tub with stunning views of the sea.  It is also a great place to watch the amazing sunsets. The nearest beach is around 1 mile from the property, though the hotel offers shuttle services to Forio daily.

Best Bit? The views from the swimming pool and the beautiful rooms.

Worst Bit? The hotel does not provide dinner though there are nearby restaurants on the estate.

Summary: This is a great place with beautiful rooms and if you are looking for somewhere quiet with stunning views and sunsets then this is the place to be.

Hotel Parco Smeraldo Terme

The Hotel Smeraldo Ischia is located on the south coast of Ischia on Maronti Beach around 8km from Ischia port.  The hotel has a private beach with free use of sun loungers and umbrellas, an outdoor thermal pool, and a thermal pool and spa for you to enjoy.

Breakfast is included in the package and this can be extended to include dinner at the hotel restaurant.  Close to the hotel you can also find shops, cafes and restaurants if you want to eat outside of the hotel and there is water taxi that will take you to Sant’Angelo.

The rooms are a little dated but spacious and clean and the rest of the hotel makes up for it.  It is set in beautiful grounds and with a spa within the hotel you can enjoy many treatments on your trip. The hotel offers single, double, triple and quadruple rooms and it is also possible to rent apartments close to the hotel for 2-4 people.

Best Bit? The location of the hotel next to the beach with a beautiful pool and a spa on a site where you can get treatments.

Worst Bit? The bedrooms are a little dated and could do with modernising, but they are spacious and clean.

Summary: The hotel is 4 star and comes with an onsite restaurant and spa with a swimming pool and its own private beach for you to enjoy.  Perfect if you are looking to relax on the beach and enjoy a few treatments.

Terme Manzi Hotel Ischia

The Ischia hotel Manzi is a 5 star hotel & spa located in Casamicciola Terme on the north coast of Ischia Island.  It is beautiful modern hotel that is on the grounds on an old thermal spa in a renovated building that dates back to the 1800’s.

During your stay you will have access to 2 thermal pools, sensory showers, turkish bath and free wifi.  The hotel has a beautiful rooftop pool and snackbar offering light lunches and snacks as well as a cocktail or coffee by the pool with amazing views of the town and sea.

The Hotel Manzi Ischia comes with breakfast and included and there is the option to add in dinner to your package too at the 2 onsite restaurants. In the spa you can expect full wellness facilities, with massages, body scrubs, facials and much more available.

Best Bit? The spa facilities of this hotel are amazing.  If you are looking for a relaxing spa break then this hotel has everything you could need.

Worst Bit? The only negative about this hotel is the location, it is in a village in the hills, not very close to the beach and few restaurants close by, though the hotel itself does not 2 restaurants with amazing food.

Summary: If you are looking for pure indulgence and great spa break on your time in Ischia then this is the perfect place for you.

Miramare E Castello

The hotel miramare Ischia is a 5 star hotel located on the seafront in Ischia Port, with amazing views of Sorrento bay and Aragonese castle. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool and it’s own private beach for you to relax on.

All the 41 rooms are beautifully decorated in a contemporary style and have air conditioning.  The classic and standard rooms have a view of the town, whereas the suites, deluxe and superior rooms have sea views.

This 5 star hotel has 2 hot tubs on the terrace and and a spa and wellness centre with a turkish bath, sauna and massages available. The prices includes a buffet breakfast and dinner can be included in your package at the onsite international restaurant with an amazing outdoor terrace with views of Aragonese castle.

The hotel is right in the heart of Ischia porto meaning that there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance if you do not want to spend all your time in the hotel.

Best Bit? The location of this hotel is great, it also has outdoor pools and a sun terrace with amazing views.

Worst Bit? The only complaints are the the decoration in some of the room is a little dated and that you are not allowed to bring outside drinks or food to your room.

Summary: If you are looking for a hotel in the centre of Ischia but with spa facilities then this is perfect for you.  You can explore the island from here and enjoy time away from the hotel but also indulge yourself when you are there.

Regina Isabella Resort Spa

The Hotel Regina Ischia is a 5 star hotel located in a bay in the north west of Ischia and has long since been visited by the rich and famous.  Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow.

In the 1950’s film producer Angelo Rizzoli constructed this hotel complex on the anicent greco-roman ruins directly on the shore of Lacco Ameno.  It has a wellness centre, 3 swimming pools, mud baths, thermal pool, fitness centre and the views are stunning.

In Regina Hotel Ischia each room is decorated in a mediterranean style with antique furniture and all with a balcony with either a sea view or garden view.  All rooms have air conditioning and free wifi.

Ischia Hotel Regina is the most luxurious hotel on the island and is beautifully decorated and in an amazing location even having a Michelin starred restaurant on site where you can enjoy local and international dishes. 

Live music is also performed in the cocktail bar every night. It also has its own beach area where you can relax in one of the sun loungers while having your cocktails brought to you.

If you are wanting to relax then this is the perfect hotel as the thermal spa has lots of treatments perfect for you, from mud baths, therapies, treatments and massages.

Best Bit? There is no best bit in this hotel, everything is amazing from the location, views, decoration and spa.

Worst Bit? There is none, this is an amazing hotel.

Summary: If you want to treat yourself and stay at the best hotel in Ischia, then this is the hotel for you.
